“Celebrating art and artists in Web3”
Meet the Artist
TocoDeco, why do you make art?
I make art because I have to. There is no getting around it. It is how I see the world and the only way to express that is visual and abstract. I feel transported when I’m in a museum looking at works of art, old and new. Art makes you question the nature of everything, and the creation of art helps one express what words can’t. I like creating a micro-utopia where the viewer and the artist connect, even if for a moment.
How did you find out about NFTs & what made you decide to deal with it and create NFTs yourself?
I was told about NFTs by someone who needed an illustrator for an NFT project. I hardly knew what they were. I was shown artwork on OpenSea and I began to understand these were valid works of art that had the power to ignite inspiration and created beauty. I was hooked and wanted to try out this latest technology.
What personal info do you want the audiences to know about you?
I’m a Latin American artist focused on the space between - where art genres and mediums intersect. I have a Masters in Interdisciplinary Fine Art, meaning I work across disciplines, often combining processes in new ways. Experimentation is part of my art practice. My work is often expressionist, minimalist and experimental or conceptual. I love exploring emerging technologies and the way NFTs are changing the conversation around art.
