โWe all have an obligation to daydream. We have an obligation to imagine. It is easy to pretend that nobody can change anything, that society is huge and the individual is less than nothing. But the truth is individuals make the future, and they do it by imagining that things can be different.โ - Neil Gaiman
Meet the Artist
Anna van Tassell, why do you make art?
My love of art started from a very young age. I have always loved to create from my imagination and watching what my mind drives my hands to create. I am a multi-media artist, working with physical illustration and digital illustration and animation. I enjoy making portraits, places, etc., and I especially love to have unique themes to my work. I like to think of my art as being a bit otherworldly, and I enjoy creating things that take a spin on reality. I also incorporate my original poetry into my artworks through the descriptions that utilize my poetry to tell then story of my thoughts during its creation. I have spent much of my life immersing myself in my art, but I have only recently begun sharing my art with the world. I hope that those who stumble across my art can see the heart and soul that I embed within its contents.
How did you find out about NFT &ย what made you decide to deal with it and create NFTs yourself?
I found out about NFT through my mother, Leslie Spurlock, who is a well known photographer who has interpreted into the NFT space. She has always loved my art and has often asked me to share it with others, but I admit I am a bit shy and reserved. Through this space I have been able to share my work comfortably without having to brave the physical aspects that would follow outside of the virtual vicinity. Additionally, I have found a space where my uniqueness and multi-media formats are valued, and I have made some great friends in the space that have helped me on my journey.
What personal info do you want the audiences to know about you?
I graduated with my BS in psychology, Summa Cum Laude, from Texas A&M University- Commerce in 2020. I am currently a masters student finishing up my MS in clinical mental health counseling for LPC licensure, and I am additionally intending on obtaining my LCDC and LMFT certifications. I hope to be able to one day integrate my love of art into my work in the mental health field. I am interested in integrating expressive arts as I have seen through research and studies how art can be a wonderful therapeutic aid for a broad range of mental illnesses as well as has versatility across varying age groups and cultures. My art is a representation of my imagination and my innermost thoughts, and I hope that my pieces challenge others to think outside the box. I do not wish my art to only represent beauty, but to provide messages and stories to my viewers and collectors.ย โโโโโโโ
